A About me
Hi 👋
I’m Ken. Over the past 20 years I have lived and worked in different countries, met a bunch of great people along the way and worked on some amazing marketing and communications projects of which I am extremely proud to have led and/or contributed to.
My career started in PR about 20 years ago at Hill & Knowlton Belgium in Brussels. From intern to Account Manager and moved on to Hill & Knowlton Netherlands in Amsterdam. Worked mainly on Consumer Tech accounts like TomTom, Motorola, HP (consumer & business).
As of 2010, I had the joy and pleasure to start working at adidas for the Benelux region, looking after Brand Communications. Some pretty cool projects around fashion and sports, from launch parties with adidas Originals, over jersey introductions and activations with clubs like Ajax, Feyenoord, Anderlecht and the Belgian Red Devils, to the adidas Ultra Boost with multiple influencer activations to name a few. Attending and activating the Olympic Games in London and Rio for the brand were also a part of my career highlights.
In 2016 I transferred to the adidas Headquarters in this little but famous sports town, Herzogenaurach, Germany. Becoming responsible on the strategy for all Originals marketing and communications. Deep diving in local (street) cultures from Detroit over Paris to Shanghai. Collaborating with experts in their fields in the local markets to make sure the brand would show up in its best way on the best time with the best execution around the best products.
Shanghai would take my heart and moved there to join the then newly created adidas Asia-Pacific organization, looking after all brand activation for Football (soccer) across the region. But did some APAC specific running and commercial campaigns too – after all, we’re here to help each other out.
Of course, I was not always working on the bright side of things. I had to manage the communication around some closures, people losing their jobs, and also some not well-received products. It required due diligence and careful consideration working on these projects.
And yes, I’ve made mistakes. But they made me grow as I learned the most in those moments. I’m sure you can relate to this. And if not, come hear me out!
Now, I’m here – back in the Netherlands. If you would need support on a specific project, looking for a temp replacement in your team, need advice or a sparring partner, I would like to get to know you too. Drop me a note. Feel free to write me in Dutch, French, German or English.
